Frequently asked questions

SunnySide Mini Doodles

Which breeds do you specialize in?
We breed different generations and sizes of Cavapoos and Cockapoos.

Do you do genetic testing?
Yes, all our parent dogs have had their genetic testing done through either PawPrint Genetics or Embark.

Do you offer a Health Guarantee?
We offer a one-year genetic health guarantee.

Does my puppy come with dew claws removed?
We do not remove any dew claws. There is a large body of evidence showing the importance of dew claws on dogs.

How do you raise your puppies?
All our puppies are raised in our home, with daily love and care. We follow Badass Breeders and Puppy Culture Protocols with Early Neurological Stimulation and Early
Scent Introduction from days 3-16.

Can I get one of your puppies if I’m not in Utah?
Yes! About 95% of our puppies live out of state. We have a flight nanny who can fly with your puppy in the cabin and deliver to your nearest major airport.

How can I get on a waitlist for one of your puppies?
Fill out our puppy application and we will reach out to you! Once you have placed a deposit, you are put on our waitlist.

How much is the deposit? Is it refundable?
The deposit is $500 and is non-refundable. This shows you are serious and are ready for a puppy. The $500 deposit goes towards the total cost.

How does the selection process work?
Once you are approved and have placed a deposit, you can adopt any available puppy, or you may request that your name be added to the upcoming litter of your choice. Pick positions on any upcoming litter are determined on a "first come first serve" basis.

When is the balance due?
The remaining balance is due in cash at pickup.

How do you take payment?
We accept Cash or PayPal.

When can I meet my puppy?
Due to the potential spread of parvovirus, and other known illnesses, we are not allowing in-person visits until puppy pick up day. We will do our best to send videos and pictures and are more than happy to do a Facetime call for you to meet them.

When will my puppy be ready to go home?
Puppies can go home at 8 weeks old! Sorry, there are no exceptions to letting them go home sooner.

Will my puppy come vet checked?
Yes! All puppies are vet checked, wormed, and vaccinated before they leave our care.

Will my puppy come to us microchipped?
We do not microchip our puppies. The growth that takes place in the first 16 weeks of life can cause the microchip to be expelled or migrate. We recommend waiting until their last set of puppy vaccines to have a chip placed.

Does my puppy come with breeding rights?
No. All our puppies are sold on a strict spay/neuter contract, unless otherwise noted by the breeder. Official veterinarian documentation will be required within one year.

Does my puppy come spayed or neutered?
No. Dogs need to reach full sexual maturity before being spayed or neutered. We do not recommend this procedure before one year old.

Will my puppy come trained?
We work with our puppies daily to make them confident, well-adjusted, and trusting. We will introduce them to crates, start them on potty training, and will start with recall using positive reinforcement. They will not come fully crate trained, potty trained, or leash trained. There will be a transition period and will likely be accidents in your home - they are little babies after all.

Does my puppy come with any papers?
We only breed designed (mixed-breed) dogs, which are not recognized by the AKC. Your puppy will not come with any registration. There are mixed breed registrations out there, but they do not require any documentation to prove breed, so we do not register our puppies through any association.

What does my puppy come with?
Your puppy comes with health tested parents, a small bag of the food they have been eating (enough to transition to whatever you like), a blanket and toy that smells like their mom and littermates, and a copy of their vaccination papers.

How often will my puppy need to be groomed?

Non-shedding dogs need regular grooming. We do not recommend bathing your puppy more than once a week, to avoid dry skin and matting. Grooming should take place every 5-12 weeks, depending on your preference. Regular brushing helps keep your dog soft and mat-free.

Do you guarantee the adult size and coat of your puppies?
Due to the nature of mixed-breed dogs, we do not guarantee adult size or coats. We will have a great idea based off both parents and genetics, but do not guarantee.

Do all of your breeding dogs live with you?
They do not! We only have a few of our breeding dogs who live with us. All our other moms and dads live with amazing guardian families near Salt Lake City, Utah.

What is a guardian home?

A guardian home is a permanent home for one of our dogs. They live their best lives with another family, while we retain breeding rights.
